Well today I go my 44mm/70cc kit for the Tomos. Install was going great, Untill I broke the piston rings.
One thing that’s nice about the kit I bought is that it’s shipped to you with the piston already in the cylinder, buuuut I wasn’t being careful and it dropped out. While trying to get it back in I broke the rings. That a 20 dollar mistake, and now I have to wait another week for them to get here from California. Bummer. The good news is I still need to paint the bike, so I wasn’t going to be riding it for awhile anyway. I started taking a wire wheel to the rusty spots on the frame, there was waaay more rust than I would have thought. But it’ll also surface rust. I’m getting as much off as I can, and will hit the rest with some converter before I start painting.
Anyways here’s some size comparison pictures of the old and new piston/cylinder.
Also the old one is cast iron. Sucker is heavy for how small it is.

At least you got some fun 30 degree rides in on it this Winter before dealing with rust removal.

Yeah I rode it to work for a whole week, brunt through a whole gallon of gas! And it was kinda warm 40-50 that week too.

My goal with this Tomos has always been to make it as fast as my 79cc Honda Aero80. I’m hoping this hopped up 70cc will do it

My cub is probably nowhere near as fast as either of those, being a 4-stroke, but the tradeoff is that it's quieter and easier to live with.
